Join a league team

You can play in a league without an account. Your captain or the organizers have the league's join code, or a link that has it.

Step by step

  1. Get inIf you aren't signed in, tap Play now on Leagues or on the join link to join without an account, or sign in or create an account.
  2. Enter the codeOpen the join link you were sent. Or, on Leagues, type the code under Join a league and tap Join.
  3. Pick your teamTap Join next to your team. The league opens, and your team is listed on its Teams tab.

If the code doesn't work

A code works only while the league has a season getting ready or in play. Otherwise the app says “That code doesn't match a league that's taking players. Check it with your captain.”

Waiting for approval

If the team's roster is full or sign-ups have closed, you see “You're on the list. Your place waits for the organizers to approve it.” You show as Waiting until they do. You can play for one team a season: if you're already on a team when a second place is approved, the approval is refused.

Claim a place held for you

A captain or organizer can add you by name, or by your handle if you have an account. Either way they send you a claim link. Open it and tap Claim my place, and the place and any results it has become yours. A place added with your handle also shows on Leagues with Claim.

On the team's list, an unclaimed place reads “Hasn't claimed their place”, and the captain, vice-captain or an organizer can share its link again with Claim link.

Captains

To start a team, type its name under Or start a team and captain it and tap Start. Captains need an account; if you're playing without one, save your games to an account first. The league's owner or an admin can hand the job to another player on the team with Make captain, or add a vice-captain, once that player has an account and has claimed their place.

Captains and vice-captains can:

  • Add players to the team with Add player. Added to a full team or after sign-ups close, they wait for the organizers to approve them.
  • Set the line-up for each night and add substitutes.
  • Lock the night, and confirm or dispute the result.

Your name on a public league

A public league's tables and results show its players. The join screen says how: your first name and last initial, or your full name, with your nickname.
