Add a substitute for a league night
A substitute plays for your team on one night. Captains add them from the night's page, under Line-ups, with Subs. Then put them in the games from the line-up, where they're listed under Substitutes.
Step by step
- Open the substitutesOn the night's page, under Line-ups, tap Subs next to your team.
- Pick someoneUnder From the league, search players or teams and tap Add (Ask, when substitutes need approval). Or, under New player, enter a name and tap Add substitute. If the rules allow nobody from the league, the sheet opens on New player.
- Put them inOpen the line-up and choose them for a game.
Joining by QR
Tap Show a QR to sub. The substitute scans it, plays without an account or signs in, gives their name if they're new, and taps Sub for your team. Share link sends the same link. Close link shuts it, and a link opened again has a new address, so old photos of the QR stop working. There's no QR when the rules don't allow substitutes, and someone taken off tonight's substitutes can't join again from it.
The league's substitute rules
- Substitutes: Allowed, With approval, or Not allowed.
- With approval, a new substitute shows as Waiting until an organizer approves them, and can't be picked until then.
- Substitutes from: not from other teams, from lower divisions, or from any team. A player on the team you're playing that night can never sub.
- Nights a substitute may play: a limit for the season, or Any.
Double duty
If the rules set Games a player, the limit counts a substitute's games too, so one player can't fill more games a night than it allows.
Removing a substitute
A captain can remove a substitute who isn't in a locked game. Their seats in games not yet locked go back to the captain to fill. The organizers can also remove a substitute from locked games nobody has started, which voids those games and clears the night's confirmations. Nobody can remove a substitute from a game a phone has started; take it back on that phone first. Games under way or played stand.
The organizers' own additions skip approval, and they can add a substitute when the rules say Not allowed or the nights limit is reached, which the league's activity log records. Where a substitute may come from applies to them too.
