Playing and scoring
Add guests and bots to a game
Anyone can play in a game you score. A guest needs only a name, with no account or app of their own, and a bot throws its own darts on your phone. Both are added on a game's setup screen in Play.
Step by step
- Open a game's setupTap Play, then the game you want to play.
- Add a guestType their name in Guest name and tap Add.
- Add a botTap Add friends, players or a bot, then pick a level under New bot opponent.
- StartSet the rules and tap the Start button at the bottom of the screen.
Guests
A guest is saved to your players as a local player, so you don't type their name again. The names under the lineup add someone in one tap: the people you played most recently first, then Friends and your other players. Typing the name of someone you've already saved adds that player rather than a second copy. In Add friends, players or a bot you can also search your players, or type a new name and tap Add with that name.
Rename or remove a guest on Players with the actions button beside their name. Removing them keeps their past games and stats; they just stop appearing when you pick players.
What a guest's games count for
A game against a guest is a game against a person, so it counts in your stats and your wins like any other, unless you turn off Count toward stats. The guest's results stay with you: on Players, tap their name for their record and averages from the games you've scored. The H2H tab in Stats lists Friends only.
Get a guest's games onto their account
- At the board: if they have an account, tap Invite with QR / link on the setup screen before you start. They scan it, pick their seat and join, and the game counts in their stats while your phone keeps score. It shows when you're signed in, two or more are playing, and no bot is in the game.
- Afterward: once they have an account and you're Friends, open the actions for the guest on Players and tap Link to a friend…. Their games move to that account. This can't be undone.
- At a tournament, a walk-in gets a claim code at the door that adds the night's games to their account; see Run a tournament.
Bots
A bot has one of four levels, from Rookie, which averages about 38 in 501, up to Ace at about 92. Each level's tile under New bot opponent shows its average. While it's the bot's turn the keypad locks, and the line above it shows each dart land. A bot you add stays in your players, and you can change its level on Players with Change difficulty.
X01 or Cricket against a bot is practice: it's in your history, marked vs Bot, and out of your stats unless you turn on Count bot games in Settings → Scoring. A bot game never counts as a win. Practice games such as Count Up count toward your personal bests as usual.
Limits
- Most games take up to eight players. Around the World, Shanghai, the checkout drills, target practice and the Shanghai Doubles Challenge take four, and Bob's 27 is solo, with no bot.
- Bots can't play doubles.
- In a two-player game, a bot can't play a Friend you've invited, because the bot plays on your phone.
- Bots aren't in the one-tap names under the lineup; add them from Add friends, players or a bot.
