Playing and scoring
How checkout hints work
In X01, once the player at the board can finish in the darts they have left, a checkout route shows under their score, such as T20 · T20 · Bull for 160. Hints are always on, for every player and every skill level.
When a hint shows
- With Double out, from 170 down; with Straight out or Master out, from 180 down.
- Only when a finish is possible in the darts left. The route is recalculated after each dart, so after a miss it shows the best route from where you are.
- When no route exists, the turn card says why, for example that a score is too high for a two-dart finish or that no double makes it.
What it suggests
For Double out, the routes follow the standard checkout chart, finishing on a double or the bullseye. Master out can also finish on a treble where that gives a shorter route, and Straight out aims straight at the score. The full chart is in the checkout chart guide.
The hint is a suggestion only. Any finish that follows the out rule counts.
Hear the finish called
With the audio caller on, turn on Call the finish in Settings → Scoring and the caller tells the next player what they need, such as “you require thirty-two”, when they can check out in three darts.
